SEO Strategy To Follow

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that you want to target one specific keyword or keyword phrase per page. This is important because trying to target multiple keywords on a single page will lead to that page not being ranked well for any keywords and completely defeating the purpose.

The next step you need to take is to make sure that you have that keyword or keyword phrase “scattered” on your page. While it is important to have your keyword or keyword phrase on your page you want to make sure you don’t overdue it and have enough other content to make it look “natural”. This way your content gives your visitors the information they need and the search engine spiders can correctly place that page.

The keyword or keyword phrase also needs to be in the page title. Your page’s title is what will show up in the search engines and what those searching will click to take them to your page. This is not only important for your pages keyword authority and how it will be placed in the search engine, but it will also increase your click through rate because your title has the keyword or keyword phrase that is being searched for.

Your meta description or the description of your page is about as important as your page title. Your page’s meta description will need to include your keyword or keyword phrase like your page title. However, this is where you want to do a little selling but keep it short because the search engines only show so much text. For instance, “We carry several styles of Nike shoes and most include a free pair of socks.”

The last thing you need to be aware of is the amount of internal and external links each of your pages has. Obviously you can’t necessarily control your external incoming links but you can do things to help others link to you. You can do things like providing the html for others to use in order to link to that particular page. However, your internal links you can control. It’s very beneficial to have a link back to that page in your title or the keyword or keyword phrase of that page. This way any internal links that are indexed will help with the correct placement of that page. If done correctly your internal linking structure can do wonders for your rankings.

If you follow this Internet marketing strategy with every page that you launch, you are sure to see amazing results. Remember to always try and keep it simple with keywords because the simple keywords are the ones that your average consumer would type in.

Domain Name Length

Friday, January 30th, 2009

A domain name is something a lot of people take for granted when starting a website. This is one step that if done correctly, can make all of the difference in your SEO and your click through rate. It’s been proven that a shorter domain and or URL will receive higher click through rates. However the good ones are very hard to come by nowadays without buying one from someone or already owning one. For instance, obviously Shoes.com is already take and being used to generate millions of dollars. This is the best possible domain you can have for selling shoes. Not only is it short but it’s good for search engine rankings and direct type in customers. A lot of people would say ok so the next best thing would be like Shoez.com or something similar right? Wrong, yeah it’s a short domain name but it will make it very difficult to rank high in search engines for the keyword shoes or keywords with shoes in it. While it is good to have a short domain name you also need to make sure you aren’t sacrificing your websites SEO capabilities. Without taking advantage of the traffic SEO can bring you, you’re missing out on barrels of targeted traffic. So while you may receive a better click through rate what does that matter if you have very few clicks? The route you want to go is a domain that has shoes in the beginning. So while your domain name may be longer you will receive much more traffic far outweighing the click through rate worries.

Money Back Guarantee Is A Must

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

A money back guarantee is a must in your Internet marketing strategy. If you want to watch your conversion rates explode add a money back guarantee to all sales on your website. The confidence you can give your visitors the more likely they are to convert. A money back guarantee gives them a sense of security. Even if this purchase is not what they’re looking for they can return it and get 100% of their money back. This gives visitors nothing to lose except for their time. Not only does it give them nothing to lose but let’s them know that you are confident in what you have to offer. Your customers know that if they make a purchase you will do everything you can do in order to make their shopping experience good. They know you will go that extra step and not just sell them something and be done with it. So not only will a money back guarantee increase your conversion rates but it will improve how your company does business. It becomes a win win situation and is without a doubt a must.

Using Staff And Expert Reviews

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Using staff and or expert reviews are good to have along with customer reviews. However, if you’re going to do this you need to make sure that you clearly separate your staff and expert reviews from your customer reviews. This will be especially beneficial for the products that aren’t top sellers and may have only one review or none at all. That way your customers have at least some kind of review to reference. When you display a staff or expert review it’s a good idea to go in-depth as to why it received this particular review or rating. For instance this particular chair received 4 out of 5 stars for the following reasons. It has good back support, durability, comfortable but the manufacture holes for screws don’t line up exactly perfect. However we were still able to assemble the chair so we gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

How Customer Reviews Impact Business

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Allowing customer reviews is a great thing for your business. Even if you receive a few negative reviews, which you will, it’s a good thing. The reason you will receive negative reviews is because you will always have those customers who will find something to complain about. Most of the time a customer feels like they want to review the product when they find a negative it’s just the way it goes. It’s a good thing there are people out there who realize that nothing is perfect and look at the positive things in life. While you may be thinking well what’s the positive about a negative review? Even though it’s a negative review most likely you will have several other reviews that are positive outweighing the negative. Without a negative review some customers may see your reviews as inauthentic. While you may have the option for reviews in place you’ll find that barely any customers write reviews. Well one way to fix that is after a customer places an order offer them an incentive to write a review. For instance, give them a coupon that gives them 5% off their next order.

eCommerce And Video

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Video and eCommerce are starting to become one and the results are looking good. One example, YouTube has eCommerce written all over it and it looks like it’s beginning to open new doors. When you watch a music video for instance, if that song’s available for purchase you have the option to purchase it from Amazon or iTunes at the bottom of the video. It’s pretty clear that a video gives the viewer a clearer idea of something than just an image and text. So say eCommerce websites start using not only images and text but videos. Think about how much more knowledge and sense of security you’ll be able to provide customers. This is something you will see more and more eCommerce websites use this year as part of their Internet marketing strategy. You will see video introduced for their products and for their customer reviews. My guess is conversion rates will go through the roof and the ones who start using video to its full potential will be the ones leading the pack this year.

Bill Crutchfield Reassures Customers

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

During a recession or any bad economic time customers like to be reassured that your company will be around for years to come. A lot of what’s causing customer hesitation to buy is that they are worried how financially stable the company is. With companies failing and going bankrupt left and right it makes consumers nervous. How do they know that you will be around for years to come if they need customer support or if something happens to their product before the warranty ends. When most customers make a purchase they intend on having a long-lasting relationship. This is one thing that any company or e-commerce website needs to do in order to gain consumer confidence. Bill Crutchfield Founder and CEO of Crutchfield Corporation, is doing just that.

“Our valued customers,

The international financial crisis is weighing heavily on all of us. As consumers, one factor that we all need to consider is the stability of the companies with whom we do business. In the current economic climate, many retailers will stumble and some will even fail. For that reason, I personally want to explain Crutchfield’s unique situation.

For many years, I have been concerned about the growing credit bubble. It was obvious to me that it was unsustainable and that an inevitable day of reckoning would come. To protect our customers, our employees, and my family from the disastrous consequences of a financial meltdown, I positioned Crutchfield to withstand the worst. We became very frugal with how we spent money. We did not pay outlandish executive salaries and bonuses. We did not build fancy facilities. We did not expand our retail store operations. And we did not buy other companies. Instead, we worked extremely hard to improve how we serve our customers, while we managed every aspect of our business with excellence. Furthermore, we paid off all of our debt and accumulated cash reserves.

When shopping in times like these, you need to be certain that the retailer will be around to provide you with years of after-the-sale support. We know that you expect guarantees, warranties and promises of lifetime product support to be kept when you purchase with us – and I have positioned our company to deliver without compromise on all of these important elements. As retailers go, Crutchfield is a “Rock of Gibraltar.” We have no debt, a perfect credit rating and a legacy of fiscal prudence. Therefore, we will be around to serve you as we have served millions of customers since 1974 and throughout the last four recessions.

Purchasing from Crutchfield today means you are choosing a company that will help you use and enjoy your purchase now and in the future. I hope that you’ll give Crutchfield a chance to exceed your expectations. I thank you for your time and, most importantly, for doing business with Crutchfield.

Bill Crutchfield”

Niche Marketing And Branding

Monday, January 26th, 2009

One of the best things about the Internet besides allowing anyone to make thousands to millions of dollars, is you can make your business look like a fortune 500 company when you may only have one or a few employees. It’s all about how well you present your business with your website. If you have a simple five page website with barely any information it makes you amateur. If you have a website that’s well organized, has a great logo, a lot of in-depth clearly written information, products and or services you look like a professional. Most of your visitors will see this and think that if you have a professional look and an in-depth website, that you’re the website they want to buy from. The more information and a sense of security you can provide your visitors, the better your sales will be. Not only is this appealing to the eye, but if you’ve spent the time to create a resource this good they know you’ll spend the time to make sure that they are satisfied. For the most part this is true a websites image and information shows just how dedicated they are.

This is all important when it comes to niche marketing and branding your website. As you know niche marketing is one part of Internet marketing that will separate the majority of those who achieve success from those who do not. This doesn’t change when it comes to effectively branding your website. You must target your market as closely as possible! Do not try and target everyone, get your website in front of your best potential customers. For instance, if you sell red t-shirts, don’t target customers looking for t-shirts right away target customers looking for red t-shirts. Some of the best ways to get your website out there is to participate in forums and newsgroups, write articles on article websites, submit your website to closely related directories, start an affiliate program, exchange links with closely related websites and advertise for your specific keywords in search engines like Google. Always remember, in Internet marketing, testing one strategy at a time is extremely important. Start with one form of promotion and test it in every way possible to see if it’s truly effective for your niche market. Every niche market is different and strategies that work in one niche may not work in another.

Internet Model For Success

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

When you’re an Internet entrepreneur just starting out and haven’t made 6 or 7 figures yet there’s one route you need to achieve success as quick as possible. This route is taking something that someone else has already done and doing it better. Anyone just starting out and who hasn’t made a great amount of money yet is going to want a route with the least amount of risk and the greatest return. Motivational speaker Anthony Robbins once said, “If you want to be successful, find someone who achieved the results you want and copy what they do, and you’ll achieve the same results.”

If you want to start selling shoes on the Internet take a look at who’s already selling shoes or a website close to that niche market. You not only want to look at who else is selling shoes but who the top players in the market are. If they’re a top player in the market and one of the top in search engines for the keyword shoes they are definitely doing something right. Study how they run their business and how a few of the other top websites run theirs. See if you notice any consistency in what they’re doing. Once you figure that out take what they’re doing and change it just enough so you’re not copying them. They are the top in their market and have already figured out what works and what doesn’t in order to get there. There’s no need to try and reinvent the wheel when you want to achieve substantial success, just take the wheel and make it better. Once you’ve made 6 or 7 figures then you can take a little risk and test things to see if they’re more effective. This route in Internet marketing and as an Internet entrepreneur will set you up for success right out of the gate. There’s no need to take risk to be a successful entrepreneur when someone else has already taken that risk for you.

Submitting To Search Engines

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

When it comes to search engines there’s no room for mistakes. If you want to get substantial amounts of traffic from search engines you have to do it right. If you don’t you’re better off starting fresh with a brand new website. You have to remember search engines like Google and Yahoo have complex algorithms and there’s no room for error.

A lot of people ask; how do I go about getting my website even listed in the search engines? Well there are several ways you can go about it but only one completely safe way. You could submit your website manually to each search engine. You could also use a professional search engine consultant. Search engines specifically Google are getting better and better at picking up websites without them even being submitted. Mainly because they crawled a link to your website on a website already listed in their search engine. This is the best way become listed in search engines. By letting search engines naturally crawl your website you eliminate the risk of your website not getting listed. If you manually submit your website and they already picked it up you risk the chance of your website not being listed do to multiple submission. Although this is very rare and in most cases you will still be listed if this happens it’s a better idea to not even take the risk.
