The Importance Of Your Customer List

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Your customer list is one of the most important aspects, if not the most important in Internet marketing. One of the first things you need to do, in the development of your e-commerce site or affiliate site, is figure out the best way to capture as many names and emails of visitors coming to your site, as possible. Do not focus on generating sales at first, focus on building your list and the rest will follow. The majority of visitors that come to your site are not ready to buy, YET! So how will you get them to buy if they are not ready to buy? Well that’s simple capture their name and email by offering something they can’t turn down. Then build a relationship with them, provide them with quality information that gives them a reason to stay subscribed to your list. Once you have them relying on your top quality information it will make it much easier for them to take out their credit card and make a purchase. It’s a very simple concept but remember it won’t happen until you do it!

Newsletter Preview To Increase Opt-Ins

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

There are many different strategies that can be used to increase the amount of opt-ins a website receives. There is one that is not used very often but brings excellent results. That one is showing your visitors a preview of what your newsletter or emails look like. Most of the website actually doing this only show them a portion of an example newsletter or email, but we have found that your opt-ins increase by showing them the whole thing. This gives them a chance to actually see what they are subscribing to before they actually do.

A good way to approach this would be to make a short list of what they should expect from your average email. Even though you allow them to read a preview newsletter some will just want a summary of what to expect. Then under that summary you can provide a link where they can find one of the emails that you’ve sent to your existing list. After doing this along with providing some type of incentive, like a coupon for 10% off your first purchase, you are sure to see your opt-ins increase.

Two Things To Stay Off The Spam List

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

One thing you need to take note of are your emails that bounce or in other words do not send. Normally, an email bounce occurs because of a busy server. It’s a good idea to take note of the emails that bounced and to test them with another unique email. This way you will know if the server was just busy or if the email address is misspelled or deleted. You want to be careful how you approach this so that you do not accidentally send your list the same email again. This may cause some of your subscribers to report you as spam. By just a few of your subscribers doing this could result in a total annihilation of your list. By this I mean that your emails may start to end up in the spam box and the rest of your subscribers will never see them.

The second thing you need to do is always provide a way for your subscribers to unsubscribe. This may not only get you into trouble with the law but will more than likely get you blacklisted. If someone chooses to unsubscribe from your list it is very important that you do not ignore that request. If you do not you are almost guaranteed to be reported as a spammer.

These are only two things to help keep you off the spam list, but they are two of the most important. This will keep your emails known as “clean” and sure to keep your list growing.

Are You Capturing All Your Visitors?

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Capturing as many visitors as possible is one of the most important aspects to Internet marketing. A lot of people will spend more money and effort trying to get more visitors to their site than actually capturing their existing ones. Yes, it is a must to receive as much traffic as possible but you need to make sure you aren’t wasting it. Before you spend time and money on more traffic you need to make sure you are effectively capturing your traffic.

One of the first steps is to track the traffic coming to your website. You need to know how many visitors you are receiving, how they got to your website, how long they stayed, what pages they went to, and what pages they left on. When you know all of this information it will allow you to improve your website in areas where you are losing visitors. For instance if the majority of your visitors are leaving on a particular page after so many seconds or minutes you know that there must be a flaw in that page. It’s tracking like this that will allow a website to become as close to perfect as it can be. A good tool to accomplish this is Google Analytics.

You must also make sure you grab your visitor’s attention as they enter your website and if they leave your website without making a purchase. By capturing your customer as they enter is your best chance. Offer them something most will not be able to resist like something free that has a 50 dollar value in exchange for their name and email address. The reason this is so important is because a lot of visitors intend to purchase but not right away. You can then follow up with them later on and build a relationship with that visitor. Provide them with benefit and they will be more likely to make a purchase. You also want to offer them something if they leave without making a purchase. Offer them an upgrade, coupon or free information in exchange for them answering 4-6 drop down questions. Make a list of 10 or so selections for each question you ask them and allow them to choose one selection. For instance why are you leaving, what were you looking for and so on. This will allow you to send them a personalized email that is actually of interest to them. If you are providing them with what they are looking for they are ten times more likely to purchase then by sending them something they weren’t looking for.

As you can see capturing your visitors is very crucial to Internet marketing. Get your system setup to accomplish this first then try and capture more visitors. There are many businesses that after implementing these strategies grew as much as 400%! All they did was give the traffic they already had more value and personal service.

List Building

Friday, October 24th, 2008

List building is the process of gathering names and addresses for marketing purposes. One way of building a list is to ask for a customer’s name and email address. This is one step to effective email marketing. Another way of building a list is to ask for a customer’s name, email address, and home or business address. This is the most effective way of list building because you can send information, deals and new products through email and postal mail.

One effective way to build your list is by offering your customer something free but beneficial in return for their information. You may be losing money initially by giving them something free but a good portion of those customer’s will turn into sales, repeat or lifetime customers far outweighing the loss.

There are many different strategies to keeping your subscriber count growing exponentially. One of the most effective ways is to regularly send your list free quality information and or tips. By doing this you will keep your readers coming back and they will feel like being subscribed to you is beneficial. You must make sure you do not send your subscribers information and or tips too often or they may leave feeling annoyed. This way you build a strong relationship with your list then when it comes time for you to release a new product or have a sale they will be interested because they won’t feel like all you are trying to do is sell them something. This is just a start to list building but it should give you an idea of what it’s about and how to do it effectively. List building is just one part of Internet marketing but very key to substantial Internet success.
