Encourage Affiliates To Use PPC

March 15th, 2009

One thing you want to tell your affiliates to do is try using pay per click with your keywords to market your product or service in search engines. I know what a lot of you are thinking as you read this and that’s why would you ever want to do that? Most of you may see this as creating more competition, when in reality it’s eliminating competition for you.

Yeah you a telling others to bid on the same keywords you may be bidding on but wouldn’t you rather have a website who’s promoting you’re affiliate program than a competitor’s product? I am pretty sure most of you would say yes to that question. Not only is this giving your product or service more exposure but it’s eliminating the amount of competitor exposure you’re up against. So instead of the five or so other paying ads around you being your competitor, they’re your affiliates promoting you.

With you search engine presence increased and your competitors decreased you’re more than likely to get better conversions this way. Searchers will see that your product or service is popular and for that reason it must be the one they want to go with. So don’t compete with your affiliates in PPC let them bid because you’re all working as a team to build your product or service. The only way you should be competing is against your competitors and making sure you’re always a step ahead of them.

If you do end up going this route it’s a good idea to help your affiliates stay up-to-date with what’s receiving the best conversion or click through rates. If they’re going to be paying to advertise your product or service it’s a good idea to help them achieve the best possible results. This will keep them making money and continue promoting your program. So always help your affiliates out as much as possible.

Ways To Bring On Affiliates

March 13th, 2009

In order to make your affiliate program work you need affiliates promoting your program. There are several different ways to bring on affiliates but there are a couple strategies that are the most effective.

The most effective way to bring on directly related affiliates is to use a search engine (specifically Google). Before you do this you’ll want to get together a list of keywords or keyword phrases related to your niche market to search for. Then you want to search for things like “keyword” or “keyword phrase” blog; “keyword” eBook; “keyword” course; “keyword” strategies and so on. This will help you find informational blogs or websites directly related to your market that might have an interest in becoming your affiliate. If they are already advertising or promoting affiliate programs on their site chances are they will have an interest in yours.

If they’re displaying AdSense ads your chances just increased. Before you approach them you’ll want to take a look at what kind of AdSense ads are coming up on their website. They should be pretty closely related to their content. Next you’ll want to create an ad campaign targeting that keyword or keyword phrase and make it a content only ad. It gets even better you can tell Google AdWords that you want your ad displayed specifically on their website. You can do this by selecting “Relevant pages only on the placements I target” in the edit campaign settings of your ad group. This will display your AdWords ad specifically on their site. Then you can approach them with a phone call preferably which will give you a better chance of landing the affiliate or through email. You can call them and say my ad is already being displayed on your website would you be interested in promoting my affiliate program? Not only will you be getting paid for a click to my website but you will be getting paid even more for a sale. Of course you’ll have to do a little selling and give them an idea of what your company or product is about, but this will give you a step up.

This is the best approach to find affiliates and remember if there’s a phone number to call them don’t hesitate! This will give you a much better chance of building a relationship with them. If you stick to this path you’re sure to pick up at least a few affiliates and get your sales on the rise.

Your Own Affiliate Program

March 11th, 2009

Having your own affiliate program can be one of the most beneficial things you can do for your business. Imagine hundreds to thousands of people promoting your website or product on their website. Not only are they promoting your website but they don’t get paid until they bring you a sale. If you are not taking advantage of this you are missing out on thousands to millions of dollars depending on your niche market.

My clients always ask me to break it down for them and how an affiliate program can benefit their business. Say your website is bringing in 10 sales a month at $50 a sale, that’s $500 a month. Well what if you have 20 affiliates promoting your affiliate program each bringing in 10 sales a month. That’s 200 more sales a month and $10,000 instead of $500. So what was a $6,000 a year business is now a $120,000 a year business. When you break it down like that you can really see the difference it can make for your business.

The best part about it is after you have affiliates promoting for you others will start to join your affiliate program on their own and expand your business. So not only are others increasing your business, but they’re increasing your client base. Another thing you need to do is test which banners or ads are receiving the best click through and conversion rates. This way you can keep your affiliates making more money, keep them promoting you and at the same time increase your business.

These are just a few examples of why an affiliate program is nothing but positive, but some of the best. So if you do not already have an affiliate program then get moving!

Long-Term Affiliate Marketing

March 10th, 2009

If you want to set yourself up for long-term affiliate marketing there are a few basic things you need to do. You need to integrate the affiliate programs you’re promoting as much as possible. What I mean by this is you need to integrate the programs you’re promoting in your opt-in, sales process.

Let’s start with your opt-in process. With your regular emails going out packed with valuable free information for your subscribers you also need to be promoting your affiliate programs. Normally the first half of the email would be your tips, free information, etc. and then after that would be a promotion for one of your affiliate programs. This is not intrusive as long as you’re giving them some good free detailed information before your promotion. It’s also a good idea to integrate your affiliate programs into your opt-in process. They’re interested in subscribing, so they may also be interested in the related product that you’re offering. Be sure to keep it limited to one or two affiliate programs when promoting this way.

Another part of your sales process is your blog posts or your websites content, depending on whether you have a blog or website. Your blog or websites content is something that needs to be updated daily if not weekly at the least. This keeps fresh content coming in for the search engines and for your readers. You need to be promoting your affiliate programs in your content. This can be done in several ways, one way is to write a topic related to the affiliate program you’re promoting and at the end of the article is your affiliate link. Another, more effective way is to start writing about that particular subject a few days ahead of time to get your readers engaged, then after a few posts add your affiliate link. This is a much better way to promote, that way every article is not a promotion and you’re giving your readers more information on the subject, which will bring a better conversion rate.

A Few Strategies To A Successful Affiliate Marketer

March 7th, 2009

To become a successful affiliate marketer there are several strategies you need to implement. When it comes to affiliate marketing and most ways of making money online there are a few simple, but important strategies that will separate those making hundreds of dollars from those making thousands to millions.

One of the first steps to becoming a successful affiliate marketer is starting a website or a blog. It does not matter which one you choose but, blogs are the most widely used platform in affiliate marketing. A blog allows you to create a brand such as your actual name or you can name it after the niche market you’re targeting. This is important, whatever you choose, because it’s creating your “brand” on the Internet. It’s recommended that you use Word Press as your blogging platform.

The next thing you need to do and probably the most important, is setup some type of opt-in or a way to capture names and email addresses. One of the best ways to do this is with AWeber. This will allow you to get the most out of your traffic and maintain your list. Your list will become your most important tool as an affiliate marketer because you will be able to market your affiliate offers to a broader audience than your normal traffic.

You also need to be careful about the affiliate programs or products you choose to promote. You need to ask yourself is it a good product or program? If you can truthfully say you would use the product or program yourself then it’s most likely good to promote. It also helps if the company you’re promoting has been around awhile, with a good reputation.

Choosing affiliate programs that have a residual income can also make a big difference. If you sign up for a program that pays you $10 a sale that’s none residual you make $10 once. If you sign up for a program that’s residual then that $10 turns into $120 over a year. If you get 100 sales it would equal $1000. If you get 100 residual affiliate sales it equals $12,000 over a year and over 5 years it would be $60,000. You can see just how much of a difference it makes with residual affiliate programs.

These are just a few of the strategies that will make you successful but can have a big impact. This should help you work no harder than you average affiliate marketer and still keep you generating massive income. Always remember, you don’t know what’s more effective in your niche until you test.

Some Email Marketing Winners

March 5th, 2009

Email marketing can be extremely effective at a low cost and it’s not as complicated as you think. To get an effective email marketing campaign going you want to start with the most important aspects, the basics.

One of the first things you need to figure out is; what is a good number of emails you should send out in a month. The average effective campaign will send out emails twice a month or once a week and no more. You should really start out at once a month and see how your conversion rate is affected when you increase your emails sent. Keeping it to a maximum of once a week will not annoy your subscribers and keep them interested. It’s also good to figure out which day of the week is best to send out your emails. For instance you might want to try sending your first one on your slowest day of the week and your second on your busiest day of the week. More than likely you will get a greater response on your busy day because the majority of your customers are online then.

Another thing you that can make a big difference is the subject you use in your emails. The rights subjects can make all the difference in the amount of subscribers that open your emails. It’s a good idea to test different types of subjects to see which ones work better. This also ties in with testing different email campaigns. It’s a good idea to split your list up into groups and send each one a different email. This will allow you to see which email is more effective to use.

There are many different email marketing winners but these are some of the most important basics. Once you’ve mastered these, you can start testing more in-depth techniques.

Give Customers Assurance And Increase Conversions

March 3rd, 2009

One of the keys when it comes to your websites conversion rate is how “secure” do you present yourself to your visitors. They are ready to place an order but want to make sure that your website is secure. There are several different ways to show your customers that your website is secure.

Believe it or not how well a website is designed can have an impact on how secure your visitors think your website is. Even though this doesn’t actually make your website more secure it’s the impression. A lot of consumers will make the assumption that if your website is good looking, with a good layout, more than likely it’s a secure site. You wouldn’t invest the amount of money to make a website look good and not invest to make it secure.

Having an SSL certificate on your websites pages where sensitive information is entered is a must! Not only does it encrypt the connection but it shows your customers a “lock” which means that page is secure. This is probably the most important thing to have when it comes to security. If you want to increase your conversion rate even more and can afford an SSL that’s around $1,000 a year you want an Extended Validation SSL certificate. This will make your visitors web browser address bar green, giving them more of a sense of security. Some of the companies where you can get an EV SSL certificate are VeriSign, GeoTrust and Globalsign.

Another thing you can do is add a “Hacker Safe” or “Secure” tested logo to your website. This does not increase the actual security of your website, but gives your visitors a better sense of security. Add this to your website and you’re sure to see your conversion rate increase. You can get this from companies like McAfee and Comodo.

How To Get Customers To Write Reviews

March 1st, 2009

Customer reviews can have a tremendous impact on any business. Reading, listening to or watching a video customer review gives customers a better sense of security in what they’re purchasing. There are some negative aspects to allowing reviews but the positive outweighs the negative. Although customer reviews can have a positive impact on your business it’s hard to get customers to write them without asking or giving them an incentive.

The first thing you should test is to simply just ask your customers for a review after they have received their order. Depending on your niche a good portion of your customers will write a review without asking for anything in return. The customers who are willing to do this should be rewarded even when they don’t ask for it. This shows them that you care about their opinion and them as a customer. It’s also something unexpected and shows that you take pride in your customer service. This will get those customers coming back to purchase again and again.

Once you have tested this method if it doesn’t seem to be working out as well as you thought it’s a good idea to start offering your customers an incentive. There are several things you can offer them it really depends on your niche. You could offer them a t-shirt of your business, money back on their purchase or a coupon for any future purchases. It’s a good to do this after they have purchased by email, mail or even put it in their packing slip. No matter what the case by giving an incentive you will get a much bigger response.

How To Convert Email Subscribers

February 27th, 2009

The first thing you want to do is figure out which subscribers have not yet made a purchase. Take these emails and compile them together into one email list. These subscribers are obviously the hardest to convert and they should be emailed your best offer or offers. With you’re analytics set up to track every page of your website you will be able to track which subscribers are clicking a link or links in your email. There will more than likely be a percentage of subscribers who will click, but not buy again after this email. You will want to backend the subscribers who didn’t buy with a final, even better offer.

The next thing you want to do is analyze which subscribers have made a purchase within the past 30 days, depending on what kind of products they purchased and separate their emails. You are then left with the rest of your list who’s made a purchase, but haven’t made a purchase recently. There are a few reasons why this may have occurred. One of them could be because one of your competitors was offering a better deal at the time they were ready to purchase. Another could be because they only needed a one time purchase anyways or they just don’t need to make another purchase yet. It’s more than likely, that a good percent of these subscribers will make a purchase if they are sent a special offer. It’s a good idea to have a sale on your website going on during the time you send out on email to your subscribers. Make sure that the sale on your website is not a better deal than the one you’re offering your subscribers. This way they realize the advantage they have to being subscribed and being a loyal customer.

Strategies To Gain Customers Opinions

February 26th, 2009

In order to improve your customer experience and increase your conversion rate you need to know the opinion or preference of your customers. A satisfied customer will normally be more than willing to provide you with their opinion, if you approach it correctly.

The first thing you need to make sure you’re doing is providing your customer with the best service you can provide. If you’re doing this the rest will, most of the time, fall into place naturally. One of the biggest mistakes a website can make is asking a customer for their opinion before they have even had a chance to browse and make a purchase. Not only have they not even had a chance make a full opinion, but they may leave your site and not even make a purchase. The best way to ask for a customer’s opinion or feedback is to ask for it once they have completed their order, either by an email or a phone call.

When you’re asking for their feedback you want to make sure you keep it as short as possible, remember they have a life. Ask them if they would be interested in answering a few questions to improve their shopping experience. In return give them something free or send them a coupon for their next purchase. Then after you’ve asked your set of questions ask them if there is anything else, you didn’t ask, that they would like to see.

Always remember that your customers are what makes your business. Their opinion is the most important, if you listen to your customers they will more than likely come back again than not. By listening to them it shows them that you are doing everything you can in order to make their experience the best they’ve ever had.
